In today’s Digest, we cover Trump hailing a deal with TikTok as China pushes algorithm use, Amazon expanding ad integration with SiriusXM, and the UK and US sealing a $42bn tech pact.
Trump hails TikTok deal
President Trump said Tuesday his administration has struck a deal with China to keep TikTok running in the US, though key details remain unsettled. Beijing has suggested that the platform’s algorithm, which drives its video feed, would stay under Chinese control even if US ownership changes.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said: “We have a deal on TikTok ... We have a group of very big companies that want to buy it.”
Under the reported terms, TikTok’s US assets would transfer from ByteDance to new American owners. The agreement, if finalised, would end months of uncertainty ahead of a government deadline for the app to sell or shut down in the US.
Amazon expands ad integration with SiriusXM
Amazon has expanded its programmatic integration with SiriusXM, giving advertisers more ways to buy audio inventory through its DSP. The update introduces programmatic guaranteed deals and allows users to transact via private marketplaces.
SiriusXM’s first-party data will also be uploaded to Amazon Publisher Cloud. This update will make it easier for listeners to be attributed to Amazon sales. It also broadens the reach of Amazon’s AI-driven ad products across streaming audio.
Director of the Amazon DSP product, Meredith Goldman, told AdExchanger the update positions Amazon DSP as a full-funnel platform that helps buyers reach consumers at every stage of their journey.
UK and US Seal $42bn Tech Pact
Britain and the United States have signed a £31bn technology pact to deepen cooperation in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and civil nuclear energy. The “Tech Prosperity Deal” comes as Trump visits the UK.
The figure includes Microsoft’s pledge of £22bn to expand cloud and AI infrastructure, Google’s £5bn investment, and Nvidia deploying 120,000 graphics processing units.
Britain said the agreement will drive economic growth, strengthen energy security, and expand scientific research.British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the pact has the potential to influence the lives of millions in both countries and deliver growth and security.
