This week: Twitter's merge to X Corp revealed, Alibaba enters the generative AI race...

Despite the news that Twitter ‘no longer exists’ as a corporate entity, Elon Musk’s social media folly continued to make headlines; this week US broadcaster NPR ‘de-emphasised’ the platform after a spat over its new ‘state-affiliated’ Twitter label. Oh, and Twitter was also sued by former execs over legal expenses. All in a week’s work for Elon.

Generative AI continued its rapid rise to ubiquity, as Alibaba launched Tongyi Qianwen, its ChatGPT rival, with chief executive Daniel Zhang describing the new AI era as a ‘technological watershed’.
