Piwik PRO, a privacy-first analytics platform provider, has opened a new regional data centre in the United Arab Emirates to better serve customers across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). This launch enhances the company’s global hosting network, which already includes North America, Europe, and Hong Kong, and helps organisations meet strict local and international privacy requirements, such as the UAE PDPL, Hong Kong PDPO, or the GDPR.
Powering the region’s digital transformation
In 2024, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Internet Data Centre (IDC) market was valued at almost USD $250m and is projected to double in 2032, growing at a CAGR of 10.46%.1 The rapid growth of UEA as a data centre hub is fuelled by digital and AI transformation, progressive government initiatives, and rising demand for cloud computing and data sovereignty. As public and private organisations accelerate their digital strategies, reliable, secure, and scalable hosting solutions are essential for supporting innovation and long-term growth.
"Our UAE data centre empowers local and international organisations to meet strict compliance requirements without sacrificing analytics quality," said Wiktor Lewandowski, head of devops & security at Piwik PRO. "It's a significant turning point in our goal to offer regionally specific solutions that meet a wide range of privacy regulations."
The most important factors powering the UAE data centre expansion, in addition to strategic location and advanced digital infrastructure, are:
- Government support – Initiatives such as the UAE Digital Government Strategy 2025 and Smart Dubai promote digital transformation and encourage local data hosting.
- Cloud adoption – As global cloud providers establish regional facilities, UAE-based businesses benefit from lower latency, improved security, and compliance with national regulations.
- Economic diversification – As the UAE transitions to a knowledge-based economy, data centres play a critical role in supporting key sectors such as finance, healthcare, logistics, and e-commerce.
- Security and compliance – With the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) reinforcing the importance of data sovereignty, demand for local hosting continues to grow.
