Axeptio Launches Global Privacy Control (GPC) Support to Strengthen Compliance with US Privacy Regulations

Axeptio, a consent management platform used by more than 80,000 websites worldwide, has announced the launch of its new Global Privacy Control (GPC) feature.

This functionality allows businesses to automatically detect and honour GPC signals sent by users’ browsers, in line with the requirements of regulations such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), the Colorado Privacy Act (CPA), and the Connecticut Data Privacy Act (CTDPA).

Global Privacy Control is a browser-level signal that allows users to express—prior to any interaction with a website—their decision to opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal data. To meet these evolving legal requirements, Axeptio now integrates GPC signal detection and processing through a new feature available for projects using a CCPA banner, a prerequisite for remaining compliant in the United States.

By integrating GPC into its CMP, Axeptio enables businesses to:

● respect users’ preferences regarding the sharing of their personal data,

● reduce legal risks related to compliance with US privacy laws,

● offer a consistent and transparent consent experience across all regions.

The feature is fully integrated into Axeptio’s existing consent flows and can be easily activated from the platform, simplifying compliance management in multi-regulatory environments.

"This obligation concerns businesses, not American citizens. Users remain free to activate—or not activate—the GPC in their browser. Adoption today is still limited, with around 1% of the US population having an active signal. However, as soon as a signal is emitted, the company must be able to process it properly. Otherwise, it exposes itself to a risk of non-compliance." - Pascal Vautrin, privacy standards expert, Axeptio.
