Thrad & Cursor Host First Ad Tech Hackathon on Agentic Commerce Infrastructure

Thrad and Cursor are hosting a hackathon on agentic commerce this month. Over 150 developers and founders will spend an evening building the infrastructure that AI agents will need to handle real commercial workflows - things like buying media, negotiating terms, and optimising campaigns.

That's a shift that's already happening in ad tech. As AI agents move beyond being assistants and become operators in their own right, questions about how advertising fits into those systems have stopped being theoretical. They're urgent. And the judge panel assembled for this event makes that clear: David Gelberg from 10 Downing Street, founding engineers from Overmind, and investors from Strand Ventures and Earlybird Venture Capital. This isn't a consumer tech event. This is infrastructure work - the kind that shapes how the ad tech industry operates for the next decade.

Builders will tackle the core ad tech challenges that agentic systems are creating: conversational advertising formats, autonomous media buying agents, AI-native attribution systems, prompt-aware ad ranking, creative generation workflows, and monetisation infrastructure. They'll use Cursor for development, alongside tools from Overmind, Tavily, and Thrad's advertiser platform

"The event is a signal. When you see government policy makers, serious venture investors, and the most advanced AI teams all showing up to the same table around an ad tech problem, it's because they think something real is about to happen. For agentic commerce, that moment is now." - Andrea F. Tortella, CEO and co-founder, Thrad
