Seedtag, the global leader in contextual advertising, has today (March 3rd, 2025) announced the appointment of James White, previous chief commercial officer at the Evening Standard, as its new UK commercial director. Bringing over two decades of experience to the role, White will utilise his extensive knowledge to help drive Seedtag’s continued elevation in the UK, leading the company’s commercial relationships with UK and multimarket agencies and clients.
As a highly accomplished commercial leader, James spent 18 years driving significant growth and transformation at the Evening Standard. In his most recent position as chief commercial officer, he was responsible for overseeing revenue across digital, print, audio, video, and events and also steered the Evening Standard team through the COVID-19 pandemic, successfully meeting business goals and creating cost savings in the process. Prior to this, White played a pivotal role in the Independent's transition to a digital-first model, securing the sale of the i news brand and driving growth in profits.

“James is a great coup for us at Seedtag, demonstrating the focus on our role as a leading contextual advertising player in the UK,” said Marko Johns, managing director & head of agency, International. “He was a stand-out candidate in a hugely talented field and his experience complements the great leadership team we have in place. He joins us with a wealth of commercial experience and is incredibly respected by all agencies and clients. I'm looking forward to working closely with him and planning the strategy for continuing our growth in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
Commenting on his appointment, James said, “I’m really excited to be joining such a brilliant business that has an incredible product alongside an impressive and enthusiastic team. With the phasing out of third-party cookies, context and privacy has never been more important and Seedtag’s award-winning AI tech offers clients and partners an extremely powerful solution. I can’t wait to be a part of the journey as Seedtag continues to make the UK one of the key markets for 2025 and beyond.”
In addition to James’ appointment, Seedtag has also announced promotions within Seedtag’s UK team, including Dan Ward to Deputy UK country manager, who will take on more responsibility for continuing Seedtag’s sustainable growth. Sarah Pettitt has been promoted to senior group business director. As part of her expanded role, she will focus on driving sales excellence across the entire UK team. Both Ward and Pettitt sit on Seedtag’s leadership team alongside White.
