Taboola Reveals: Tesco Clubcard Coverage Surges 1,876% Ahead of £11m Voucher Deadline
by on 26th Aug 2026 in News

UK readership of articles related to Tesco Clubcard has increased by 1,876% over the last 30 days compared with the preceding 30-day period, as shoppers risk losing £11m worth of Clubcard vouchers. Data from Taboola’s Newsroom, which captures readership behaviour across the platform’s national publisher network, shows that Clubcard-related articles generated more than 335,000 page views across Taboola’s UK publisher network during the period, up from approximately 17,000 in the previous 30 days.
The approaching expiry of £11 million worth of Clubcard vouchers is the clearest driver of this surge. Coverage from consumer, national, and retail publishers - including The Independent and Daily Star - has warned shoppers that affected vouchers will become invalid after 11.59pm on 31st August. Articles have encouraged consumers to check the Tesco app or website and explore their options before their rewards lose their value.
Other Clubcard developments have added to the momentum. These include the return of Clubcard Challenges, through which selected customers can earn up to 5,000 bonus points by completing personalised shopping goals; Tesco’s "Know What You’re Sitting On" campaign highlighting the value of unused rewards; and promotional activity such as the OVO Clubcard Millionaire prize draw.
"Publishers remain among the most trusted places consumers turn when a loyalty scheme can make a tangible difference to their household finances," said Dave Struzzi, communications Lead at Taboola. "Their reporting explains how to get greater value from loyalty programmes, discounts and everyday spending."
"This extraordinary increase in readership also demonstrates that Clubcard has become a powerful consumer brand in its own right. Expiring vouchers, new challenges, and rewards campaigns each create fresh news moments for Tesco, keeping Clubcard at the centre of conversations about savings and value while generating significant earned-media attention for the wider Tesco brand."
