Digest: Court Unseals Google Ad Tech Remedies Decision; Taboola Acquires Rival

In today’s Digest, we discuss the global programmatic DOOH market reaching $1.34bn, Shein shares sinking to a post-IPO low after an under perform rating, and Ozone launching Arc to enter performance marketing.

Court unseals Google ad tech remedies decision

Google finally has a written verdict to answer to. Judge Leonie Brinkema's full 106-page remedies decision in the government's ad tech antitrust case was made public, unredacted, and unchanged from the sealed version she filed two weeks earlier. Neither Google nor the Justice Department flagged anything as confidential during the 14 days they had to do so.

Google must build interoperability between AdX, its ad exchange, and DFP, its publisher ad server, connecting both to Prebid. AdX has to offer rival publisher ad servers the same bidding terms it gives DFP, and Google must share win-and-loss bid data with publishers. AdWords, meanwhile, is barred from bidding directly into DFP or favoring Google's own tools. A court-appointed technical monitor will oversee compliance, and the rules apply worldwide, not just in the US.

Taboola acquires rival

Taboola is buying its way deeper into finance advertising, agreeing to acquire UK-based Dianomi for up to £27m, according to a financial filing. The upfront cash portion values Dianomi at £19m, around USD$25.4m (£19.05m) , a 68% premium over the company's closing share price the day before the deal was announced. The remaining amount depends on performance conditions being met.

CEO of Taboola, Adam Singolda argues that even as AI reshapes how people consume content, it's opening new opportunities too pointing to conversational ad units, similar to ChatGPT or Gemini, that keep users engaged on publisher pages longer and can make them up to five times more valuable than typical visitors.

Foodpanda takes food delivery into ChatGPT

Foodpanda is betting that the next place people decide what to eat won't be an app at all, it'll be a chat window. The platform has launched a plug-in that lets users discover restaurants and meal options directly inside ChatGPT and Claude, using real-time availability rather than static recommendations. Users can describe what they're craving, cuisine, budget, dietary needs, group size, even the occasion and get matching foodpanda options mid-conversation before being routed to the app or website to complete the order. On ChatGPT, that means invoking the plug-in with an @foodpanda prompt. On Claude, mentioning foodpanda by name triggers the integration.

This is part of a broader pattern in Singapore's digital economy, where AI assistants are quietly becoming a new front door for everyday services.
