Thrad Launches $1 Million Fund to Support the Next Generation of Conversational Advertising

Thrad, the leading advertising platform for AI conversations, today (15th October, 2026) announced Monetisation Fund II, a rolling programme that commits up to USD$1m (£893,000) in advertiser spend to eligible consumer AI applications and publishers through Thrad’s DSP. The fund helps consumer AI apps and services with built-in conversational interfaces test advertising as a sustainable business model.

As consumer AI applications become more sophisticated, users increasingly expect longer, more context-rich conversations and advanced features that can handle complex, multi-step tasks. Growing adoption only increases these demands. Advertising offers a potential way to offset operating costs while keeping AI products accessible and allowing developers to continue investing in the features and experiences users value.

"AI founders are building incredibly useful apps, from personal AI agents to interactive learning tutors," said Andrea Tortella, co-founder and CEO of Thrad. "But as these services scale, costs add up quickly, from development to the tokens powering every interaction, and many users simply won’t pay for a subscription. This puts founders in a difficult position: how do they deliver a great product while building a sustainable business? Monetisation Fund II connects AI developers with advertising demand from Fortune 500 brands, helping them test or adopt an ad-supported business model."

Through Thrad, consumer AI apps and services can connect their conversational inventory directly to contextually relevant advertiser campaigns, run native, sponsored experiences inside the chat interface, and measure campaign delivery and engagement. While some already rely on traditional banner ads, Thrad enables them to deliver advertising directly within conversations, creating a more relevant and useful experience for users. Sponsored placements are designed to complement the conversation, with clear disclosure so users can easily distinguish advertising from the AI's organic responses.

Monetisation Fund II gives AI apps and services an opportunity to test this approach with real advertiser spending. It builds on Thrad’s first monetisation fund, launched in December 2025 with USD$500,000 (£446,553) in advertiser spend, which helped AI companies explore native, in-chat advertising as a new revenue model or an alternative to traditional ad formats.

"Thrad has broadened the range of advertisers we work with, bringing demand built specifically for conversational environments," said Andrea Zanon, co-founder of Daimon. "The brands are high quality and the ads fit naturally into the context of each conversation, which has strengthened our monetisation without changing how our users experience the product."

Monetisation Fund II accepts applications on a rolling basis, with Thrad evaluating AI apps and services based on their potential to generate advertising revenue, including whether they have an established user base. Selected applicants will receive advertiser spending through Thrad’s DSP to support in-chat advertising campaigns. Details on eligibility, ad formats, revenue sharing, and measurement are available at thrad.ai/monetisationfund.

"Advertisers see a massive opportunity to engage consumers in new ways within conversational AI experiences," said Tessa Burg, CTO of Mod Op, a leading independent marketing agency. "We're excited to test Thrad to better understand how brands can participate in AI conversations in ways that are relevant, useful, and valuable to their customers."

Thrad recently expanded its presence in San Francisco, where its team is working directly with AI developers and supporting the startup ecosystem through initiatives including sponsorship of pitch events during SF Tech Week and Advertising Week New York. The company also recently launched Thrad Self-Serve and Thrad Autopilot, tools that enable advertisers to run campaigns through its DSP.
