Samsung TV Plus Unveils Stellar Festive Drama Schedule as Consumption of FAST Content Gathers Pace This Christmas

Samsung Electronics Ltd announces an exciting new drama-fuelled package of award-winning television programmes, launching across new and existing UK Samsung TV Plus channels. Available for free across millions of Samsung devices, this latest launch further strengthens the business’s commitment to growing and improving the quality of free, ad-supported TV (FAST) content in the UK.

Time spent streaming on FAST services on Samsung TVs in the UK has increased 26% year-on-year, with the month of December peaking 17% higher than the yearly average. And with the launch of these news shows, it's as great of an opportunity as ever for brands wanting to reach streaming audiences during this key festive period.

Samsung TV Plus is the latest destination for Sky entertainment content with the launch of the Sky Mix channel, featuring early series of some of Sky’s best-loved and award-winning programmes, including True Detective series 1, Big Little Lies S1, Gangs of London S1, Midwich Cuckoos, Rob and Romesh Vs S1, and more - all now available to watch for free, with no subscription necessary.

Samsung TV Plus‘ freshly launched channel Crime Network kicks off with Narcos, the highly-rated and adrenaline-fueled drama series based on the story of Pablo Escobar and the 1980‘s Colombian drug trade.  Catapulting the career of Pedro Pascal and inspiring a successful spin-off series, the Netflix original will give crime lovers even more content to sink their teeth into.

And finally, the iconic American period drama Mad Men has joined the Entertainment Hub, another one of Samsung TV Plus’s popular owned and operated channels. Widely regarded as one of the greatest television series of all time, a new generation of audiences will get to discover the allure of 1960s New York and bustling advertising scene.

Jennifer Batty, European head of content acquisition at Samsung TV Plus said: "Samsung TV Plus continues to push the boundaries of what FAST can offer audiences - providing not just the best, high-quality content, but also the best of the best. The Sopranos and Mad Men - both part of the golden age of television and both lauded as the greatest television series of all time - have now found a new home in FAST, allowing even more audiences to discover these incredible shows for the first time, or for old fans to rediscover and watch over and over again - all in a free-to-access environment."
