In this episode of A Coffee With... Nicolas Bidon, CEO of Ogury, joins ExchangeWire COO Lindsay Rowntree over a black americano to chat persona intelligence and audience decisioning.
Audience and channel fragmentation are intensifying due to AI, retail media proliferation, and technical constraints from Apple and Google, making manual advertising execution more difficult. Nicolas explains how non-identity approaches can guide precise audience targeting without violating privacy or relying on brittle IDs. Agentic AI combined with persona intelligence offers a scalable solution.
The industry is in a tentative phase with agentic, akin to early programmatic. Adoption will accelerate as media owners open MCP servers and standards mature, shifting job roles towards strategy and insights. Human craftsmanship remains critical: agents execute and infer, while humans orchestrate, set objectives, and ask the right questions.
Nicolas also spoke on an ATS London panel about audience decisioning as the new intelligence layer for a multichannel world.
Fragmentation and Data Strategy
Dispersed consumer attention, AI, and the proliferation of retail media networks have bolstered fragmentation. To counter this, Ogury blends survey data and an 8-million consumer panel data based on real browser behaviour to model consumer intent and map audiences to geo-locations. As this persona intelligence is non-identity-based, it is not limited by privacy regulations.
Identity resolution often tries to make predictions based on particular users or ad opportunities. However, not all identity-based data is probabilistic. For example, data from the 8M panel can show zip codes with a high propensity for buying certain items. This provides deterministic insights for advertisers to target users, even without knowing specific demographics.
CTV and Measurability
Formats like games do well with more simple measurability such as QR codes and app installs, but CPG is harder to directly attribute. CTV is a powerful channel for awareness, and allows for more effective targeting than linear TV. The key is to define and use what CTV can bring to find pockets of audiences that may be in the market for an advertised product.
Innovative CTV solutions leverage things such as household IP addresses, geo-signals, contextual targeting, and mobile cross-device linkages to drive full-funnel outcomes. CTV’s next frontier is linking awareness to measurable performance via these methods while acknowledging the difficulty of deterministic conversion attribution for non-app outcomes.
The Future of Agentic Transactions
Managing dozens of ad platforms manually is unsustainable for agencies facing tighter client budgets. Agentic AI helps to bridge that gap between strategy and execution. It fulfils the long-promised liquidity and efficiency of programmatic by enabling multi-environment activations (eg. Netflix and YouTube) via APIs, reducing manual friction and schema wrangling.
The adoption curve for agentic infrastructure is expected to accelerate significantly over the next few years. While AI agents handle mundane execution tasks like data alignment and naming conventions, human orchestration and innovation will remain essential for maximising outcomes and value.
