This week: TikTok joins forces with TalkShopLive to take its live shopping feature to the US, the UK government nearly doubles ministers' budget for advertising...

It's been a week of second chances and second guesses across ad tech. In the US, social media giant TikTok salvaged plans to roll out its live shopping feature in the region by partnering with LA-based TalkShopLive. Billionaire Elon Musk also edged towards finally purchasing Twitter, u-turning on his decision to abandon the USD$44bn (£38.6bn) takeover to avoid a lengthy legal battle. Uber's former chief of security, however, was not so lucky with the law this week, having been found guilty of covering a massive data breach at the company in 2016.

Meanwhile, the UK government budgeted £930m to advertise party policies ahead of the next election, while also pausing progress on the Data Reform Bill to rethink the legislation.
