This week: a former Twitter manager is convicted of spying for Saudi Arabia, secret talks between Apple and Facebook revealed...

It's been a week of revelations across ad tech, particularly for big names in social media. One of Twitter's former managers was found guilty of spying and accessing users' data, whilst secret talks between Facebook and Apple in which the two tech giants planned to "build a business together" were revealed.

Also trying - and failing - to keep a low profile was H&M, who quietly returned to Alibaba's Tmall after having been delisted for speaking out about alleged human rights offences in China. And, in the same week it lifted H&M's 16-month ban, Alibaba was dealt a major blow by Taiwan's Shopee, who surpassed it in international sales.
